The Russian government is planning to accommodate some of the sufferers of conflagration in Abkhazia.  This was reported to “Interpressnews” by IDPs from Abkhazia now living in Yaroslav and Nizhny Novgorod of Russian Federation. According to their allegations, the sufferers of conflagration from these regions are promised to be definitely accommodated in Abkhazia by government.

According to their information, the news about permanent residence places in Abkhazia sounded so attractive for the citizens of Yaroslav and Nizhny Novgorod that the local officials started asking for 15-20 US dollar bribe for issuing the status of sufferer and special documentation. With the growth of requests, the price of notification of status of sufferer might increase.

According to the acquaintances of Sokhumi governmental circles, the Russian government has not addressed them with the request of locating sufferers of conflagration in Abkhazia, but the number of Russian citizens wishing to buy real estate in Abkhazia increases day by day, and this process is taking really disturbing scope.
According to the same source, despite the fact that Sokhumi government does not issue Abkhazian citizenship to Russian citizens, that could enable them to buy real estate in Abkhazia, Russian citizens still manage to buy houses and apartments with the help of Abkhazian residents.

According to the assessments of local observers, the purchase of the real estate in Abkhazia by Russian citizens is supported by the agreement between Russia and Abkhazia in the military sphere. According to this agreement, Ministry of Defense of Russia and the officers of frontier forces and their families have right to buy real estate in Abkhazia. According to their information, mainly these kinds of people buy real estate in Abkhazia and legalize it with no problem.

According to the allegations of the local people, the purchase of properties in Abkhazia by retired Russian officers started a lot earlier than the August 8th, 2008. In this standpoint, the agreement between Moscow and Sokhumi in military sphere practically legalized the real situation and gave it a legal form.

As the Sokhumi governmental circles explained, it is not excluded that the Russian side presents the broad list of former military officials included under the category of conflagration sufferers, the accommodation of whose will not be refused by Sokhumi on the basis of the same agreement.

According to the official information, 800 hectare land was destroyed in Russia after the conflagration. According to unofficial information, the conflagration burned down 15 million hectare land. Despite the fact that the fire covered all the central regions of Russia and the whole governmental machine is mobilized to put it out. The information about the exact number of prisoners has not been disseminated yet neither by official or unofficial sources.
