The Endangered Children are Transferred to Orphanage

August 31, 2010
Children from the village Vanta, Telavi region, living in intolerable conditions endangering their lives, have been transferred to Tbilisi orphanage by the Social Service Agency.

“Social Service Agency conducted the primary and complete evaluation of Nuskhelidze family in the village Vanta, Telavi region. According to visits and evaluations, the family consists of five people: father of family, mother and children: Lika, Mzia and Qetevani. Parents can’t tell the age of their children, they don’t remember when and which hospital they were born in. The village Dispensary doesn’t have any information on children’s health state,” – Social Service Agency reported to Kakheti Information Center.

According to their information, family lived in one-room house. Children were not taken proper care and were hungry. Neighbors helped them with food and basic necessities, but because of incapability of parents, these items were not used purposefully.

With the help of Telavi Regional Department of Social Service Agency, the identification cards for parents were issued. The procedures for issuing the children’s birth certificates are also being carried out.

“Our purpose is to help a child to be raised and developed in his/her biological family. We try to support those families needing state’s assistance. The situation witnessed by us in the village Vanta of Telavi region was so severe, that leaving children in the family would have endangered their life. The agency reacted quickly and adequately to the received request that was reflected in the evaluation of children’s situation and determination of their necessities. In the first phase, we found it necessary to take them out of the family and place in the educational institution. Subsequently, the medical examination and relevant treatment is planned. As for the biological parents, the social worker will continue working with them to determine the legal status of children,” – stated the deputy director of Department of Social Programs of Social Service Agency.
