Heavy Rain Flooded Kutaisi

September 15, 2010
One-day-long heavy rain flooded Kutaisi. The water leaked into residential houses in the central streets of the city and damaged the population. The ground floors of the residential buildings in Rustaveli Street are flooded.

The population blames the local authority in it. The residents of the Rustaveli Street clarified that the draining-channels are badly installed in the streets and rain-water is not absorbed there.

“Similar thing did not happen even in winter not to speak about a day-long rain. The water has never flooded our houses before. The reason is badly installed draining-wells in the streets. Everything is done badly… After they started to pave the new road, we have been in similar situation. Unless the government takes measures, the situation will be worse in winter,” said the population.

Representatives of the public service and amenities at the Kutaisi City Hall state they have created a working group who will resolve the problem.
