The Union of the Believer Muslims Appeals to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan

October 18, 2010
The Union of the Believer Muslims appeals to Eldar Mamediarov the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. The executive body of the union Rizvan Alzamov requested the government of Azerbaijan to defend the rights of ethnic Georgian people who live in Saingilo, Azerbaijan.

“In Georgia the rights of ethnic Azerbaijan people are not violated and restricted on ethnic and religious grounds. We pray in our mosque without any problem and nobody prohibits us to widen it. Unlike us, ethnic Georgian people, who live there often faced problems from the government and law enforcement officers of Azerbaijan. The ethnic Georgian residents of Saingilo are not allowed to freely enter and pray in the Saint George church.  We kindly request the Minister of Foreign affairs of Azerbaijan Eldar Mamediarov to eradicate problem of oppression on ethnic Georgian residents of Saingilo at the governmental level”, the executive body of the Union of Believer Muslims stated.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs visited Georgia on October 14 for two days.
