Tina Khidasheli: “IDPs Are Deprived of 28 GEL Monthly Assistance”

October 26, 2010
IDPs are deprived of 28 GEL monthly assistance, stated independent “Republican” deputy Tina Khidasheli at the press conference held in Tbilisi City Counsil.

According to her, on October 7th, the Minister of Refugees and Accommodation, Koba Subeliani issued a decree that abolished 28 GEL monthly assistance. According to Khidasheli, as a result of decree, no IDP will receive 28 GEL assistance any more. Tina Khidasheli links this fact to reduction of sums for IDPs in the next year’s budget.

According to Khidasheli, they visited the villages bordering with occupied territories and met with the population. People have problems of water and electricity. They don’t have any woods.
Khidasheli addressed government with the request of ensuring the population of these villages  with basic needs. She also stated that the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation will have time till November 1st to fulfill the promises given on October 4th at the meeting of working group on the issues of IDP of City Council. If not, the reports will be sent to international organizations after November 1st concerning the state of IDPs in Georgia.
