Noghaideli Movement Requests Stopping Manuchar Tirkia’s Political Persecution

November 2, 2010
Political movement Justice for Georgia talks about the “legal and political persecution of political opponents by the government.”

As a party member, former deputy candidate in the village Kulishkari of Zugdidi region Manuchar Tirkia states, he is illegally persecuted by the law-enforcement officials.

According to Tirkia’s allegations, two months before local government elections, in March of the current year, unidentified persons riddled the house of one of the residents of the village Kulishkari by automatic guns. Regarding the occurred, law-enforcement officials conducted search in his house and confiscated Karabini type legally purchased gun.

“Later law-enforcement officials stated as if they found combatant cartridge in the gun and filed the criminal law case against me based on this. I presented the notice confirming that I bought the so-called “combatant cartridge” legally in the gun store LLC “Diana.” But they did not give my gun back. Four days before elections, at night, in the yard of my house, unidentified person fired three times. I personally informed police about this, but the law-enforcement officials did not react on this. No criminal case has been filed regarding this fact,” – stated party co-member of Noghaideli.

According to his allegations, later, in June of the current year, Ketevan Karazishvili, “a police agent” addressed law-enforcement officials with a complaint as if Tirkia was threatening her.

“Ketevan Kharazishvili submitted complaint against me by police’s order. This complaint does not have any grounds,” – states Tirkia.

Movement Justice for Georgia requests: “Stopping illegal persecution of party co-member of Noghaideli which is being conducted on the policital grounds and the basis of it is Manuchar Tirkia’s party position.”
