An IDP from Abkhazia Davit Kandelaki Attempted to Burn Himself in front of Koba Subeliani’s Department

November 19, 2010
On November 18th, an IDP from Abkhazia Davit Kandelaki attempted to burn himself in front of the Ministry of the Refugees and Accommodation.

As the head of the public movement for IDPs Davit Malazonia informed the information agency Pirveli, Kandelaki is left homeless. He’s been sheltering at his relatives for several years, but they can’t accommodate him anymore. Thus, he is left on streets.

“Kandelaki was taking active part in the protest rallies with us. But today, in a desperate situation, he decided to commit suicide. Fortunately, we rescued him,” – stated Malazonia.

There is next protest rally going on in front of Kuba Subeliani’s department. As Malazonia assures, there are sick people among IDPs who need urgent medical assistance, but they don’t have sources for medical treatment.

The protest rally has not been reacted upon by the government yet.
