Justin Lail: “Corruption on Different Levels Still Exists In Regard with Eco-migrants”

November 26, 2010
According to the representative of the International Organization “The European Center for Minority Issues” (ECMI), corruption on different levels still exists in regard with eco-migrants in Georgia. The representative of the International Organization made statement at the conference at the hotel Ambassador.

“Nowadays, there are 100 000 eco-migrants in Georgia who need shelter. 11 thousand families live in the houses where their lives are in danger. Most of them live even in worse conditions. The corruption on different levels still exists in regard with eco migrants. The sums, which were allocated for eco-migrants, were spent for other purpose”, Justin Lail noted.

He added that eco-migrants residing in various regions of Georgia do not have enough agricultural plots to earn their living. “The resettled eco-migrants are not integrated with the local population, which causes some problems especially in the district where ethnic minorities live”, the representative of International Organization said.
