November 30, 2010

Human Rights Center journalist Saba Tsitsikashvili published documents to social networks which demonstrate that Lado Vardzelashvili received about 3 000 GEL as a bonus every month in 2009 when he was Shida Kartli Regional Governor.

Based on the instructions issued by the regional governor on January 20, 2009, which was signed and sealed by Mr. Vardzelashvili himself, the former regional governor received
2, 950 GEL every month throughout 2009.

An additional document was uploaded to the same social network, which demonstrates that each month Vardzelashvili allocated 1000 GEL from the state budget for his cell phone.

The abovementioned document was dated August 1, 2008. Currently, Lado Vardzelashvili is in Morocco and it is impossible to get in touch with him.

The press-center of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, where Lado Vardzelashvili is the minister at the moment, reported to the Interpresnews that the minister will arrive from Morocco at the end of the week and will respond to the information.

Saba Tsitsikashvili prepared a journalistic investigation regarding the bonuses of the regional governor and other officials of the regional administration last year; you can read the article on the following link:  http://humanrights.ge/index.php?a=main&pid=8008&lang=eng
