Youth Movement Against Court Decision

December 2, 2010
Members of the youth organization “Homeland, Language and Religion” protest the court decision on imposing administrative fine of 400 GEL on their members.

The organization member Lado Sadghobelashvili said their seven members were groundlessly arrested on November 30 by patrol police officers. They were pasting the so-called stickers on a building in Chavchavadze Avenue where private companies are located. The employees of the private companies informed the patrol police about their activities.

“The seven members of the youth organization were detained and among them were two juveniles. Several of them did not even participate in pasting the posters; they were just taking photos or carrying the posters by bag,” said Sadghobelashvili.

He clarified that they did not resist the police officers during detention. But, the patrol officer physically assaulted their member Levan Kochloshvili and he has injuries.

Before the incident, the patrol police officers warned them not to paste posters at Vake Park but they did not obey.

The Tbilisi City Court imposed administrative fine of 400 GEL on seven members of the organization Homeland, Language and Religion – Lado Sadghobelashvili, Mikheil Kachkachishvili, Kukuri Baramidze, Levan Kochloshvili, Mariam Sukhishvili, Giorgi Paresashvili and Davit Jibghashvili.

They were detained in Chavchavadze Avenue for the resistance and disobedience to the patrol police officers.
