Kakheti Bureau of the Environmental Inspection Illegally Fines Citizens

December 8, 2010
Kakheti Bureau of the Environmental Inspection imposes illegal fines on citizens. The lawyer of the Kakheti office of the non-governmental organization Human Rights Center Lia Khuroshvili made statement about it.

“Several citizens applied to us and complained that their activities contradict the Article 146 of the Administrative Code of Georgia and consequently they are fined. For example, a citizen removed dry leaves from the bush in front of the shop where he works. The dry leaves are not rubbish. The citizen put them in the polyethylene bag and left it at the corner of the shop; the dust car had to take the bag in the next morning according to the schedule estimated by the district administration. The officers of the Environmental Inspection fined the citizen with 200 GEL. There are no dust-bins in the regions of Georgia; particularly in the villages. However, nobody pays attention to this fact. In addition, the Environmental Inspection discusses the protocols in contradiction to the law,” said the lawyer.

The Kakheti Bureau of the Environmental Inspection did not comment on the fact.
