Human Rights Week in Progress

With the initiative of the Human Rights House Tbilisi, on December 6, the Human Rights Week was launched in Tbilisi. Five documentary films on human rights will be screened in the framework of the Human Rights Week which will be followed by discussions.

The first movie The Reckoning was about the International Criminal Court.

The film Shooting Under Fire, which was screened on December 7, was about the photo-reporters working on Palestine-Israeli Conflict in Gaza Sector. The photo-reporters speak about those hard conditions and obstacles they face in their work during military operations.

After the film-screening, the discussion was moderated by the representative of the IWPR Giorgi Kupatadze. The students took part in the discussion; the invited guest – photo-reporter Zura Kurtsikidze shared his experience about photo-reporting during the armed conflict.

“Our main target-group is the youth. The purpose of the Human Rights Week is awareness-raising of the young generation on human rights issues,” said the Coordinator of the Human Rights House Tbilisi Nino Gvedashvili said.

The Human Rights Week will end with the documentary movie “War Don Don” on December 10. The executive director of the Human Rights Center Ucha Nanuashvili will moderate the discussion.

Meanwhile, two more documentary films will be presented (The Return and Books not Bars).
