Tina Khidasheli States that the Municipal Transportation Price will Increase Soon

December 13, 2010
“Municipal transportation price will increase very soon – states Tina Khidasheli, the member of Tbilisi City Council with the Human Rights Center. Khidasheli states that the price will increase on every second and the following rides in public transportation.

“City Hall can easily make this decision. The City Council declined its authority on decision-making. Thus the City Hall can do whatever it wants. I was not expecting the initial price of transportation would increase up to 50 tetra, but expectedly the transportation tariff will go higher. My expectation is that the scheme 50, 30, 20 will change with the scheme 50, 40, 30 soon. This will not happen for January the 1st, but will happen soon,” – states Khidasheli.

Human Rights Center contacted Tbilisi City Council and City Hall to double-check this information. As the Press Service states it is not possible to contact the member of National Movement  till next week.

Tbilisi City Hall Press Service stated: “We have not talked about changing the second and third tariff plan of municipal transportation. Thus, the price of every second and following rides will remain the same.”

The price of municipal transportation increased from 40 to 50 tetra on December 6th. At this phase, the price of the second and every following ride remains the same 30 and 20 tetra.
