Political secretary of the Georgian Party Erosi Kitsmarishvili said he was surprised with the “strange” statements of the director general of the TV-Company “Maestro” Kakha Bekauri. He blamed Kitsmarishvili in the oppression on him to change editorial policy of the TV-Company.

“I am surprised and disappointed by Bekauri’s accusations,” said Kitsmarishvili in his interview with the Radio Palitra.

“I cannot understand the idea of his accusation and complaints. We had implemented many projects together and we had a very close relation with each other,” added Kitsmarishvili.

Kakha Bekauri said at the briefing on December 29 that Erosi Kitsmarishvili, the founder of the Rustavi Media-Management Company, “blocked all financial sources” for the TV-Company after he failed to change the editorial policy of the Maestro-TV.

Bekauri said because of the financial crisis the TV-Company had to shift to an emergency regime of activities and made some changes in programs.

Maestro TV-Company was assigned to the “Rustavi Media-Management Company” for three-year management in November of 2009. The Company had to financially support the TV-Company.

Kitsmarishvili said he had funded the Company with 2 million GEL without any commercial interests; he only wanted to support development of the alternative information source in the country.

“I funded the TV-Company with my own money and I also raised additional funds.  I executed my responsibilities. I assisted the Maestro TV to overcome the crisis and so I finished my function,” said Kitsmarishvili.

Political secretary of the Georgian Party clarified in his Radio-interview that in March of 2010, after he finally chose political career, he stopped all kind legal relations with the Rustavi Media-Management Company. So, he could not interfere in the editorial policy of the Maestro TV. However, Kitsmarishvili confessed that he was not content with the activities of the TV-Company in comparison to its funding. He had discussed this issue with Bekauri too.

Bekauri also made similar statements before December 29 before blaming Kitsmarishvili in the interference in the editorial policy of the Company.

“I hope, Bekauri dreamt a bad dream only; or there is something wrong but what - I do not know,” said Kitsmarishvili.

The founder of the ruling company added that Bekauri was responsible for the management and fund-raising at the Maestro-TV as a director hired by the Rustavi Media Management Company.

“Bekauri had to work on fund-raising,” said Kitsmarishvili.

Journalist asked whether the ruling company could fire Bekauri because of bad management. Political secretary of the Georgian Party said that this problem was to be settled by the new administration of the Rustavi Media Management Company. However, Kitsmarishvili did not name the new leaders of the organization.

Kitsmarishvili added that the management of the ruling company wants to discuss the problem with one of the owners of the Maestro-TV Mamuka Ghlonti. However, he did not mention the name of a person who wanted to meet Ghlonti from the ruling company.

10-10 percent of the Maestro Company belongs to private persons.
