The Suspect Dies during the Operation of Detainment

In the village Koki of Zugdidi region, a suspect died during the detainment operation of robbery suspects.

According to MIA, formerly tried Davit Rurua, Joni Kardava and Teimuraz Kvaratskhelia moved to the village Orsantia from the Russian controlled village Otobaia. The corresponding individuals rented a taxi and continued their way towards Zugdidi. Near the village Koki they did not obey the law-enforcement officials’ request to stop the car, hit the police car, fired towards the police’s direction and tried to hide away.

As a result of responsive shooting Teimuraz Kvaratskhelia died. Davit Rurua and Joni Kardava were detained on the spot. While conducting the search, a bombshell, two automatic guns, Kalashnikov gun with four cartridges and one Vinchester type hunting gun were confiscated. The convicts also had the packaging tape, knives, gloves and masks.

The investigation is filed under the article 353 and the first and second paragraphs of 231 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
