Court Found Sozar Subari’s Relative Not Guilty

March 1, 2011
Court found Genadi Subari – relative of the chairman of the Georgian Party Sozar Subari – not guilty in the accusation.

Journalists attended and video-recorded the announcement of the judgment at the Tbilisi City Court. Subari’s attorney Irma Chkhadua said the judgment was fair and the court could not pass any other verdict on the case. She said they proved innocence of Genadi Subari. The former accused is also satisfied with Zviad Esebua’s judgment. He said he could prove his innocence at the court.

After the judgment was announced, a briefing was given at the Tbilisi City Court. Speaker-Judge Eka Areshidze said Genadi Subari was accused of thievery. More precisely, he was accused in the thievery of an iron gate of the forest-park in Guramishvili Street # 3 in Tskneti. Law enforcement officers found the stolen gate in Subari’s yard on June 24, 2010.

“Genadi Subari did not plead guilty in the accusation and alleged that iron gate was broken and in order to prevent other people to steal it, he stored the gate in the yard of his house. The neighbors of the accused, who were interrogated at the trial as witnesses, proved Genadi Subari’s testimony. When passing the verdict, the court considered the abovementioned testimonies as well as other evidence discovered during court investigation which was not enough to find the accused person guilty in the crime. Consequently, the Tbilisi City Court found Genadi Subari not guilty in the accusation,” said Eka Areshidze.

The prosecutor requested imposition of a bail on Genadi Subari for the crime.
