Mother Deprived of Right to Parenthood Threatens with Suicide

March 22, 2011

A mother of three children from Sighnaghi region threatens with the suicide as a form of protest to the deprivation of right to parenthood. “All of my three children were taken. They tell me that I am crazy. I am not crazy. I am invalid, but do not I have right to have and raise children,” – states N. K-shvili.

Mother deprived of right to parenthood protests against the decision of Tbilisi Appellate Court according to which the right of parenthood of her husband and her has been restricted.

According to the lawyer, the decision of Apellate Court is based only on the assumptions and therefore it is illegitimate. “The reasoning of Court as to why it restricted the right of parenthood of the father was that it was dangerous for children to stay with mother when he was at work. According to the Social Service Agency, mother is violent towards her children that is a lie and the investigation confirmed it. It is not fair to take away children lke this. I am assured that the agency revenges against all the people who dare to come against it,” – states the lawyer Tengiz Bezhashvili.

Sighnaghi Department of Social Service Agency does not comment on this issue.

The Human Rights Center disseminated a statement regarding this case not too long ago. Organization perceives that the social service agency oppresses the family under social motives.
