NGOs Hope Negotiations between “Opposition Eight” and Government Will Renew Soon

March 28, 2011
The Georgian non-governmental organizations hope that the Opposition Eight and the government will renew negotiations soon.

After the meeting of the NGOs and Opposition Eight, the head of the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy Eka Siradze said the process has not been ceased or failed. The Opposition Eight requested the renewal of the negotiations in order to speed up the process and make both parties as constructive as possible.

Siradze added that the process will continue but it depends only on the respond from the National Movement.

“Too little time is left before the next elections. So, it will be profitable for every party to finish the negotiations on time in order to get ready for the elections properly. We hope the process will renew and the amendments to the Election Code will be discussed timely,” said Siradze.

The meeting between the Opposition Eight and NGOs was held in the office of the New Rights on March 25.
