NGOs Request Tina S. Kaidanow to Intensify Pressure on Government

April 27, 2011

NGOs address Tina S. Kaidanow, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of USA in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs with the petition.

NGOs request the US to intensify pressure on the Georgian government in order to accelerate negotiations on the improvement of electoral environment and bring actual results.

As the member of Georgian Academy Temur Naneishvili stated, the issue of improving election environment was openly raised by the State Department and Tina Kaidanow’s visit today is its practical realization.

“We ask the US to intensify pressure on the Georgian government in order to determine the correct number of voters in Georgia and conduct free and just elections,” – stated Naneishvili.

The petition has already been submitted to the State Chancellery. The NGOs are currently holding a protest rally in front of the Chancellery.

About 10 NGOs took part in the protest rally, including Georgian Academy, Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights, Lawyers Association Solidarity to Illegal Prisoners and Article 42 of Constitution.
