May 23, 2011

Human Rights Center disseminated a statement regarding the kidnapping, detainment and imposing three-month imprisonment against the supporter of Public Assembly Giorgi Piralishvili. Human Rights Organization calls on the public defender of Georgia Giorgi Tughushi to swiftly react upon this case.

As the family members of Giorgi Piralishvili stated to the representatives of Human Rights Center, the police officials kidnapped 57-year old Giorgi Piralishvili on May 21st, at 7am in the morning, from the surroundings of his house.

Human Rights Center considers that the reason of kidnapping and imprisonment of Piralishvili was his cooperation with Public Assembly.

Considering the case circumstances and the personality of the violator the administrative imprisonment can reach 90 days.

Giorgi Piralishvili was imposed with the highest administrative imprisonment term – 90 days. The court process lasted for 12 minutes, according to the received information.
