Lasha Chkhartishvili Starts Hunger Strike

One of the leaders of Conservative Party Lasha Chkhartishvili started hunger strike in the preliminary detention cell of Gori.

Aleko Shalamberidze, member of People’s Party stated the corresponding at the press conference held at the former building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Shalamberidze read Chkhartishvili’s statement according to which Chkhartishvili requests that the MIA officially acknowledges the missing people of May 26th developments disappeared and announces search according to the lists of NGOs submitted to the MIA; the creation of investigation commission comprised of independent NGOs and international organizations, the lawyers of political organizations and independent experts which will study the crimes committed by the government during the raid on May 26th.

The representatives of Civil Movement of Refugees, the members of NGOs and the head of Lawyers Association Zaza Khatiashvili attended the press conference. Zaza Khatiashvili stated Lasha Ckhartishvili’s requests are just and that the public commission should be established regarding the bloody operation and the murder committed on May 26th which will objectively investigate these events.

Zaza Khatiashvili protested against the detention of Lasha Ckhartishvili and stated that the person fighting against the injustice is a victim of dictatorship.
