TV Company Trialeti Files Suit against Authors of 5 Days of August

June 23, 2011

TV-Radio Company Trialeti files suit against the director Renny Harlin and the producers – Papuna Davitaia and Koba Nakopia of the movie Five Days of August. Trialeti disseminates a statement regarding the issue:

“TV - Radio Company Trialeti protests famous film of Renny Harlin 5 days of August in which one of the scenes gives false information about TV Trialeti.

According to this scene the foreign journalists try to deliver the information in the TV Company but the building is closed. The director of the film shows the TV’s logo and closed door with a chain.

In fact, the case was very different. Our door was not only open but there was a media center in there, where tens of journalists (including from media outlets around the world) broadcasted news.

During the war we all expected that the first blow would hit us, but, nevertheless, none of the employees left the building at the expense of the risk of their lives. After the Gori TV center was occupied, transmission got out of control and the local government, governor and other law-enforcement bodies left the building without warning the population. Only then the part of the officials left the city. Majority remained in the building of the TV Company.

We categorically declare that the door of Trialeti was never closed.

If the movie director wanted to shoot the closed door, he could shoot the Building of the Local Administration!

The government by its advertisement movie tries to pay us back for the unbiased and objective information that we covered.

By this terrible, booked lie and slander as if the Trialeti officials escaped the war epicenter, the government tries to abuse the professional and human dignity of our officials.

This shows how the TV Company was pressured and what a difficult and dangerous state we worked in!

The movie director had no right to show the logo and the building of TV Company Trialeti in this context.

We are encountering the deliberate falsification of facts that aims at discrediting the TV Company Trialeti. We are sure that it was ordered by the high government officials.

TV-Company Trialeti files complaint against the director of movie Renny Harlin and the producers Papuna Davitaia and Koba Nakopia for abuse of its dignity and work reputation.”
