Appeal of the Human Rights Center’s Legal Clinic to Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Murtaz Zodelava

June 28, 2011

On May 26, 2011, when dispersing the protest demonstration in Rustaveli Avenue, police officers abused their power. Their action contained signs of other crimes too.

On June 20, representative of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia stated that “investigation was launched in regard with the excessive use of force by several police officers.”

We request to effectively, impartially and thoroughly investigate the abovementioned facts within the reasonable time in order to ensure punishment of the offenders due to the principles of the Rule of Law and justice.

We kindly request you to inform us about the ongoing investigation process.

Head of Legal Clinic of the Human Rights Center
