Chargali Residents Blame Officials in Poaching

July 15, 2011

Residents of the Chargali village in Dusheti district blame the governmental officials in poaching. The locals told the Information Center of Mtskheta-Mtianeti that officials from Tbilisi City Hall, Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional administration and Dusheti district administration often arrive in Chargali and hunt on roes, deer and other animals.

Locals said they petitioned to the Environmental Inspection to prevent the poaching in the area but their officers also arrive to hunt here.

Labor Party held a press-conference in their office and grand-son of the great Georgian writer Vazha Pshavela– Vazha Razikashvili also attended it. He said he and his relatives living in Chargali have seen officials from the Tbilisi City Hall and MIA in their village to hunt on roes and deer.

The Labor Party requests to stop hunting on unique animals and to declare the forests in Chargali and Magharoskari as forest reserve.
