Demonstration in Support of the Detained Photo-Reporters Started Near German Embassy

The demonstration in support of the detained photo-reporters started near the German Embassy.

Representatives of the Alia Holding, other colleagues of the detainees, journalists and photo-reporters participate in the demonstration. Politicians Giorgi Akhvlediani, Inga Grigolia, Davit Zurabishvili, Aleko Shalamberidze also joined the demonstrators. Nana Archvadze from the Alia Holding said they plan to hand in the petition of the journalists to the German Ambassador; the petition was signed by 110 journalists so far.

“In the petition we request to remove Top Secret status from the case materials and to make the case details public. Or, we request the freedom of the detainees,” said Nana Archvadze.

Editor of the Alia Holding Dimitry Tikaradze said they will continue demonstration permanently until they achieve their goal.

“As for our future action plan, we make decisions spontaneously and we will agree on the place of tomorrow’s demonstration this evening,” said Dimitry Tikaradze.

The demonstrators continue collecting signatures for the release of the photo-reporters under vouch. Nana Archvadze said they will continue collecting the signatures till the end of the week and supposedly, the petition will be ready on Monday.

“We will hand in the petition at the President’s Administration, prosecutor’s office, court, diplomatic corps and delegations of international organizations in Georgia,” Nana Archvadze said.
