Alarming Statement of Civil Front

July 18, 2011
In the morning of July 17th the policemen detained one of the members of the Civil Front Akaki Daraselia. Daraselia is charged with the possession and usage of drugs. (Part II of the article 260 of Criminal Code).

We would like to state with full responsibility that the charge imposed by the law-enforcement is false and aims to continue persecution of anti-governmental citizens.

Akaki Daraselia was actively involved in the civil protests that became a reason to take revenge against him.

Daraselia’s private search was not attended by the witnesses or a lawyer. His apartment was also searched without the present of the witnesses and a lawyer. This development confirms our suspicion that the detention aims to intimidate oppositionists.

Tbilisi City Court Criminal Board will hear Akaki Daraselia’s case on July 18th.
