Action of Ukrainian Women Movement FEMEN Supporting Georgian Photoreporters in Ukraine

The officials of Georgian Embassy in Ukraine beat the journalists and activists of the organization FEMEN. This is how the action of women movement FEMEN ended entitled – “photo hunting.”

The action was organized for the support of the detained photo reporters. FEMEN joined the international campaign requesting the comprehensive and impartial investigation of the case of photo reporters.

The FEMEN activists requested from the Georgian government to release three detained journalists from the preliminary detention. The embassy official stopped the peaceful action. He threw fists at the FEMEN activists and then directed his aggression towards the journalists. He beat the press representative and tried to break his equipment.

According to FEMEN, the violent act of the Georgian embassy officials confirms the media phobias of Tbilisi.

By beating the action participants and journalists, the employees of diplomatic mission demonstrated their disrespect towards the democratic principles – the freedom of speech and assembly.

The facts occurred in front of the Georgian embassy once again raise concern about the destiny of the imprisoned journalists in Georgia.

After attacking the official of Georgian embassy, the journalists of the publishing house Commentaries Aleksandre Iamkov was transferred to the hospital with the brain concussion.
