Georgian Embassy in Ukraine Apologized to FEMEN and Journalists and Dismissed Violator Employee from the Embassy

On July 18, the employee of the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine was fired from job because of the incident in front of the Embassy. The Georgian Embassy spread statement on the fact on the same day.

According to the Foreign Ministry of Georgia, “Georgian Embassy in Ukraine regrets for the incident in front of the Embassy building in Kiev when the contracted security guard of our embassy physically assaulted demonstrators and photo-reporter.”

“The Georgian Embassy in Ukraine apologies to the demonstrators, journalists and Ukrainian society for the incident,” official statement from Tbilisi.

Reportedly, an  employee of the Georgian Embassy in Ukraine beat journalist of the information-analytic portal Komentari. GolosUA reports that the journalist informed them about the incident who was shooting photos of the FEMEN’s demonstration in Kiev.

The journalist said a man went out of the embassy building and started to dismiss demonstrators without introducing himself. Then, he demanded the photo-reporters and cameramen to stop shooting.

After the journalists protested his demands, the man hit the Komentari’s photo-reporters in the head several times.

At the moment, the injured photo-reporter is in hospital. He said he has headache and doubts about brain concussion.

According to the photo-reporter, he has already applied to law enforcement agencies about the fact.
