Statement of MIA

July 19, 2011

On September 27th of 2006, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) introduced the decision of Georgian government to the society according to which the individual who applies to the MIA and presents the information to the law-enforcement regarding the connections with the Special Forces of a foreign country will be released from criminal responsibility.

This statement was made after the Counter-Intelligence Department of MIA detained 11 citizens of Georgia who cooperated with the Main Intelligence Agency of Russian Defense Ministry.

The MIA addressed the public with the same statement on May 21st of 2010 when the law-enforcement conducted mass special operation Enver.

The Counter-Intelligence Department actively continues to work in order to reveal the espionage network in Georgia and calls on the Georgian citizens who are connected to Special Services to come to MIA Counter-Intelligence Department or call the telephone indicated at MIA’s website or its e-mail and cooperate with the MIA and they will be released from criminal responsibility.
