“Misha Lost Authority for Me”

September 9, 2011

78-year old Poti resident Tatusha Mikadze was not allowed to meet President Mikheil Saakashvili in Poti at the opening of the professional college. After coming out of college President talked to the gathered local population and public officials. Security guards did not allow Mikadze to approach President.

According to the witnesses, the elder started screaming. Then the guards brought her in one of the rooms of the college and did not allow her to leave before the President’s departure. The elder was released after the President left the place. She was accompanied by the head of Poti City Council Social Issues Commission Darejan Tskhitaria and several young men. Despite the attempts of one of the attendants, the elder managed to tell tspress.ge that she was not allowed to talk to President and transfer letter to him. “When you came, the President had already left” – Darejan Tskhvitaria was telling the elder. Accordung to Mikadze, the President was talking to the population when she came, but the guards did not allow her to come up. “Misha lost authority for me by his behavior,” – said one of the ladies who attended the opening.

Later, while talking to tspress.ge Tatusha Mikadze stated that the guards detained her when she tried to transfer statement to the President. “I fell down. When I tried to scream they covered my mouth. They took me to the building. I felt bad. They sprayed some water on me. When the President left, I was taken out,” – she stated.
Mikadze, who is a solitary pensioner, has problems with her former caregivers Makvala and Arkadi Barkaias who are disputing on the ownership of the apartment building in Poti.

Poti and Kutaisi courts considered the purchase agreement to be hypocritical. However, the Kutaisi Appellate Courts justified them later. 78-year old elder has been awaiting eviction for several months.
