September 28th – International Day of Freedom of Information

September 28, 2011

International Day of Freedom of Information is celebrated on September 28th. According to statistics of Kakheti Information Center, the law requirements are mostly violated by Sighnaghi, Akhmeta and Dedoplistskharo local governments.

Kakheti Information Center finds the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Office of Prosecutor, Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation and Ministry of Education most reluctant to issue public information.

In May of 2011, Kakheti Information Center published statistics on the request and obtaining of public information. You can see the statistics on the following address.

Regarding the international day of freedom of information, Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) will hold an event on the problems of freedom of information in Georgia. GYLA will present GYLA’s database on public information.

GYLA decided to make all information obtained from public departments easily accessible. All interested individuals will be able to get acquainted with the primary documents provided by the public departments and receive information regarding the issues GYLA shows interest to and the documents according to which it presents its position.
