Students of David Aghmashenebeli University Protest Suspension of Schooling Process

Students of Tbilisi’s David Aghmashenebeli University protest the suspension of lectures at the university.

According to their information, about 5 000 students remained without education after the University’s accreditation was revoked. The Ministry of Education informed them about the decision last night.

The students state they were told they cannot continue studies because the university could not take accreditation. Consequently, the schooling process was suspended.

The parents of students also gathered in front of the University’s building who told journalists that their children are offered to move to various universities, like Gori University and Ponichala based university (suburb of Tbilisi).

According to the parents, their children were offered to enjoy mobility and apply for other institutions within only one day.

The National Center for the Improvement of Educational Quality ceased accreditation of several educational institutions.

According to the Center, accreditation was ceased for Tbilisi’s David Agmashenebeli University, Caucasian Academic Center, and Georgia’s Auto-Transportation College.

Accreditation was suspended for the University Interparm; European International Educational University, Davit Guramishvili’s International University “Iberia” and Zugdidi University.
