Chief Prosecutor’s Office Signed Plea-Agreement with Malkhaz Gulashvili

Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia signed plea-agreement with the sought Malkhaz Gulashvili, editor of the newspaper “Georgian Times.”

The Chief Prosecutor’s Office reported to the news agency Pirveli that Georgian law enforcement officers detained Malkhaz Gulashvili and his son Davit Gulashvili near the custom office at the Azerbaijan-Georgian border on October 25.

“Malkhaz Gulashvili pleaded guilty and cooperated with the investigation; as a result we signed plea-agreement with him and imposed imprisonment of 1 year and 6 months on him. As for Davit Gulashvili, we imposed a bail on him and relatively he was released from imprisonment,” statement of the prosecutor’s office.

Davit Gulashvili was accused of illegal crossing of the state border.

He was sought for the incident in the studio of the TV-Company “Kavkasia” and illegal crossing of the border.

Reportedly, the Gulashvilis were sheltering the territory under control of the Russian Federation.
