MIA Is Entitled to Impose Penalties on People Fined for Economic Crimes

Authoritative agencies of the MIA are entitled to impose penalties over the people fined for several economic violations.

Corresponding amendments were introduced to the Tax Code by the Parliament of Georgia. According to the new law, authoritative bodies of the MIA will have right to impose penalties on the people breaching the estimated deadline for covering the fine in accordance to the Tax Code. The rule will be estimated by a joint decree of the Ministry of Finances and Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The MIA will be entitled to launch prosecution or impose fine on the following legal violations: breached term for the declaration of goods or transport means; remove/cancel or/and damage/destroy of identification without the permission from the tax agencies; to get into the buildings within the control zone; transportation of goods across economic border of Georgia without control; to transport money or valuable notes of no more than 50 000 GEL without control; to transport money or valuable notes of more than 50 000 GEL without control; to remove goods or/and transport means from the control zone without permission from corresponding tax agency; to load or unload goods under supervision; violation of commodity operations; to transport goods by transport means beyond the control across the Georgian economic border.
