Bokeria’s Wife Disliked President Saakashvili’s Initiative about Employment of People between 45 and 60

November 8, 2011

“I was surprised with eccentric critic from Tamar Chergoleishvili, wife of Giga Bokeria – Secretary of National Security Council, about recent initiative of the President Mikheil Saakashvili; reportedly, during the government session the president offered the companies, who will employ people from 45 to 60, will be free from income taxes,” newspaper Kviris Palitra wrote article under title “Only Stupid Can Believe That Criticism Is Animosity/ “Omniscient” People Ruined Georgia/ “Bokeria’s Wife Dislikes Saakashvili’s New Initiative?!”

“Initially the information was spread by Levan Ramishvili – ideologist and founder of Freedom Institute; he posted the information on his profile in the social network Facebook and then Giga Bokeria’s wife and editor of the magazine Tabula shared Ramishvili’s pathos and placed the information on her wall with astonishing comment: “What a nonsense is it?! If a businessman hires person between 45 and 60, he will be free from income taxes.” Of course, friends soon commented on Chergoleishvili’s status and made fun of Saakashvili; the status received more than enough likes. Finally, when one of the users drew parallels between Saakashvili and Gaddafi, the spouse of the Secretary of the National Security Council felt herself in a bit awkward situation and removed the status with all its comments from her profile. Anyway, I managed to store the copy of the page,” the author of the article wrote.

“Saakashvili’s initiative is really ridiculous. It is their problem when members of the government call each other “stupid”. But if before, people between 45 and 60 were “washed out” people, now the government wants to gain the hearts of those people by pretending to be a good government. So, if they discriminated elderly people before, now they wanted to introduce the age discrimination into the law. There is no similar precedent in the world history! I wonder how they will formulate the president’s initiative in the law! The people, who stood besides the president when he made similar announcement, were fully aware that he was speaking nonsense. But everybody agreed with him and it was the most astonishing fact. I hope this initiative will not be introduced to the law,” expert Gia Khukhashvili told the correspondent.
