Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Relatives Are Still Persecuted

November 11, 2011

Bidzina Ivanishvili’s press-center spread information about detention of a friend of the businessman’s nephew Zaza Kobakhidze.

Zaza Kobakhidze was a military servant at the Vaziani military base. He was sentenced to two-month pretrial detention for arbitrarily possession of firearms.

Several days before the detention, he was interrogated by law enforcement officers, who inquired his relation with Ivanishvili’s nephew. Zaza Kobakhidze told them they had been friends since childhood and they came from one village.

Law enforcement officers detained Zaza Kobakhidze near his house on November 6 when he was going to the St. Trinity Cathedral for the blessing of his family name.
