People Brought To Kvareli to Applaud for President

November 18, 2011

On the opening ceremony of Ilia Lake and Rest Complex in Kvareli public officials and activists of the National Movement were brought from various districts of Kakheti to meet President Saakashvili.

Head of Kakheti office of the Free Georgia Giorgi Mosiashvili told ICK that about 400 people were taken to Telavi.

“Four yellow buses, about 15 mini-buses and small cars were standing near the Erekle Square. The traffic was hindered. I noticed head of Culture Service of the Telavi district administration Mikheil Daghundaridze, Culture House director Zakro Razmadze and businessman Niko Chincharashvili among people. The rest people were “clappers” who attend every ceremony. Some of them even held papers to note who was coming to the ceremony. Finally, they collected about 400 people,” said Mosiashvili.

Public servants and activists of the ruling party were taken from Lagodekhi district too.

“They filled in eight mini-buses with people. I asked them where they were going but nobody answered. Then I learned Saakashvili was coming to Kvareli and they wanted to meet him. They will say people are happy with opening the Ilia Lake and that we are achieving progress, etc. Of course nobody will go to the Lake in such a cold weather and they had to stage some show,” said Tamar Tavadze from Lagodekhi.

About 4 000 pupils were taken to Ilia Lake from the public schools of Dedoplistskaro, Telavi, Gurjaani and Kvareli districts.

“We took 2 400 pupils from the Kvareli district to meet the president. The children will see perfect show. We did not take teachers. I do not have time to talk with you; I am attending the opening ceremony and you can call me tomorrow,” head of Kvareli education resource-center Ketevan Chipashvili told the ICK.

Heads of district education resource-centers also attended the opening centers of Ilia Lake and Rest Complex.
