Building Reconstructing for Georgian Dream Blocked

November 22, 2011

Lawyer Archil Kbilashvili reported that the building, where Bidzina Ivanishvili’s public movement “Georgian Dream” was to be placed is practically blocked.

“Property of the Cartu Group - building of Journalists’ House, which as supposed to be an office of Ivanishvili’s public movement is located near the King Rostom’s Palace. Today, for alleged rehabilitation motives, office of public services and amenities of the Tbilisi City Hall started fencing of the territory and they are installing gate in the fence. As a rule, during construction activities, the territory shall be surrounded due to safety norms but special corridor shall be constructed for pedestrians in order not to hinder their movement. In our case the problem is that similar corridor was not constructed and after the gate is installed we would not be able to enter the Journalists’ House, a property of Cartu Group, that means we cannot use the building,” Kbilashvili told Interpresnews.

The lawyer said it is ungrounded reason to surround the territory and believes the real purpose of the decision is “to prevent Bidzina Ivanishvili from establishing the public movement.”

The lawyer has already petitioned to the City Hall and corresponding institutions regarding the issue.

“Unless our petition is satisfied, we will appeal to the court,” said the Lawyer.
