Depriving Ivanishvili of Citizenship – Unprecedented Fact of Selective Justice

December 6, 2011

According to the member of group of lawyers of Bidzina Ivanishvili Archil Kbilashvili, “depriving of Georgian citizenship when the individual was granted it by exceptional rule is an unprecedented fact of deprivation of citizenship.”

Kbilashvili stated this in the hotel Tbilisi Marriot at the presentation of administrative complaint of Bidzina Ivanishvili.

“We have information that there still are people who have been granted Georgian citizenship by exceptional rule. Then they became citizens of other countries and now they carry three citizenships. The government also has information about this. The lawyers will not publicize this information to avoid similar problems for these people. The fact that the individual was deprived of citizenship which was granted to him by exceptional rule is unprecedented and makes us think that the President was motivated by other factors. We addressed the court on the corresponding and requested to issue information over the individuals who were deprived of citizenship after granting it by exceptional rule. But the President’s Administration does not have answer either. Let us see what information they will provide,” – Kbilashvili stated.
