John Bass – If Serious Violations Are Observed During Elections We Will Have Very Clear Position About It

December 15, 2011

“If serious violations are observed during elections or obstacles are created for the elections to be held in transparent and competitive environment, we will have a very strict position,” said the US Ambassador John Bass during his meeting with journalists of regional media in Kakheti.

He said it is significant to build public trust to the election process and election administration. “Particular attention shall be paid on the Voter’s List. Voters shall not be sent back from precincts. Procedures – voting, counting ballots and votes, etc - shall be conducted properly during pre-election period and on the Election Day as well,” said Bass.

The US Ambassador also spoke about the recommendations of the Venice Commission. The Ambassador said discussion on those recommendations is underway among society members.
