Investigator in Case of Journalist Tedo Jorbenadze is Detained

According to the newspaper Batumelebi, Gela Makharadze the investigator in the case of journalist Tedo Jorbenadze is detained. He is charged with the offence of appropriation of one’s property by swindling.

According to the information disseminated by Batumelebi, on November 25th of 2009, in Batumi in the building of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), an unidentified individual was forcing Tedo Jorbenadze to cooperate with the special services. Makharadze was assigned to find the individual who was found by Batumelebi on November 20th of 2011. This individual happened to be Davit Devnozashvili.

“The newspaper informed Gela Makharadze about finding Davit Devnozashvili and asked to immediately react upon. The investigator was obliged to do so by law. Gela Makharadze had a following reaction on this information – “address me in written form tomorrow,” – Batumelebi states.

In case the guilt is confirmed, the former investigator will face 9-year imprisonment.
