Dedoplistskaro District Governor and Chairman of Municipal Board Systematically Make Presents for Themselves

December 23, 2011

Dedoplistskaro district governor Nikoloz Shanshiashvili and chairman of the municipal board Levan Bagashvili often receive money awards. In November, they received bonus of 2 360 GEL from the local budget based on their own instructions.

According to official information, in May of 2011district governor and chairman of the municipal board received 2 360 GEL each as bonus; their colleagues received 58 760 GEL in total. In November the governor and the board chair received 2 360 GEL each and allocated 55 840 GEL for their colleagues.

Head of district office of the Free Democrats Tamila Gurashvili protested the release of bonuses to the employees of the district administration and municipal board.

“They did not do anything good for the local people to deserve similar presents. Why do they think that they deserve bonuses while 80% of the local population lives below poverty level, are starving and live in cold. A woman fainted in the street because of hunger. It is astonishing. People are dreaming about food and they are giving presents to each other. They bother only about their own welfare,” said Tamila Gurashvili.
