Old Cash Registers Shall Not Be Used from Today

February 1, 2012

The use of old cash registers is prohibited from February 1, 2012.

According to the Revenue Service Office, if entrepreneurs do not use the new GPRS system control-cash registers, they will be fined with 500 GEL.

Head of the Revenue Service Office Vasil Gedevanishvili added that the entrepreneurs, who have already filed applications for the purchase of new cash-registers before January 31 and hold corresponding receipt, will be able to use the old apparatus before the procurement of the new ones.

“About 90 000 cash registers have been registered already; so the number of the entrepreneurs who have not purchased the new register is too small. So, the deadline for the registration will not be postponed. It is noteworthy that as a result of the amendments to the Tax Code, tax-payers with the status of micro-business shall be free from the responsibility to purchase the cash register. 18 599 tax-payers have similar status. The tax-payers holding the status of small-business will receive the GPRS system apparatus for free,” said Gedevanishvili.

The new control cash-registers have been distributed since August of 2011.

The price of a cash-register is 290 GEL. Tax-payers can buy the new cash-register by percentage-free 12-month bank installment.
