Georgian Commercial Banks Sold Houses of 151 154 Creditors for Unpaid Loans

Commercial Banks sold houses of 151 154 creditors for unpaid loans in Georgia. According to the Center for Social Programs and Development, 151 154 families remained without house and private property. About 70 000 of them have no shelter at all.

Sopio Beroshvili, director of the Center told newspaper Alia that the number of homeless families increases every month.

“In 2008, 35 728 families lost houses; in 2009 their number reached 38 799 families; in 2010 – 47 889 families and 28 738 families lost houses during 9 months in 2011; we will have data for the first three months of 2012 at the end of June unless we face any artificial obstacles.

151 154 families have lost house and private properties in total. Among them, 70 000 families remained without shelter. You must remember that their number increases every month,” Sopio Beroshvili said.
