Mikheil Saakashvili Criticized Officials of Foreign Embassies in Georgia

March 19, 2012

President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili criticized officials of foreign embassies while visiting Tbilisi Information Center.

Mikheil Saakashvili made a comparison between embassy officials and old bureaucratic state policy.

“In order to recall what we had before it is not essential to visit the neighboring state and meet a traffic policeman. Visit some foreign embassies in Tbilisi and see how citizens are treated there by foreigners and by the way, by Georgian officials as well. Do you know why they treat them that way – they think that they are boss and can look down on you and humiliate you. This happens in our embassies, in foreign embassies – including those of developed European states,” – Mikheil Saakashvili stated.

According to him, corruption was the result of feudal mentality of Georgian officials. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, this happened several years ago and this mentality is changing now.
