Protest Action Held in front of Parliament Concerning Death Case of Kimeridze

March 12, 2012

Members of NGOs and other public and political organizations held a protest action in front of Parliament building on March 10th.

As one of the participant of the action, head of Human Rights Center Ucha Nanuashvili stated to journalists, questions over the death case of Kimeridze are still unanswered.

“We still do not know what happened. Therefore, we are requesting fair and objective investigation,” – Nanuashvili stated.

Member of Coalition for Freedom of Choice Irakli Melashvili thinks that civil society needs to remind government that these facts will not go unpunished.

“When one dies in the police building due to the physical traumas, the crime elements are obviously present. When things like this happened during Kakha Targamadze’s supervision of MIA we all protested against it and stated that this is not admissible. It is still so,” – Melashvili noted.

Irakli Melashvili called on the members of Parliament to make comments regarding case of Kimeridze and explained that the principles must not change depending on where you are - in government or in opposition.

Members of political party Free Georgia and representatives of youth organization of Georgian Dream also participated in the action.
