Maya Panjikidze Hopes Bidizna Ivanishvili’s Life Is not at Stake

April 3, 2012

Maya Panjikidze hopes that Vakhtang Komakhidze’s information, about Bidzina Ivanishvili’s life being at stake has no serious grounds.

As spokesperson of the Georgian Dream, Maya Panjikidze told the InterPressNews was if there is valid evidence, Vakhtang Kobakhidze should send them to corresponding institutions to farther respond.

“When a person spreads similar information, he must name the source of information as well. If he holds valid evidence, he should not post about it on “facebook” but send them to corresponding institutions for farther respond. I hope there is nothing serious behind this”, Maya Panjikidze said.

Journalist Vakhtang Komakhidze posted a note on his Facebook page that Bidzina Ivanishvil’s life is in danger.

He writes that he has information according to which the Government of Georgia poses threat to Bidzina Ivanishvili’s life.

“This might happen when he [Ivanishvili] visits regions. Of course I acknowledge the responsibility of this statement. But it is my duty to speak about it without any identifiable data, as there is no possibility to verify it and no guarantee that in case of identification of the source the conspirator will be restricted and rights and security of the source will not be violated. Obviously, there is a possibility that the source could have some goals by disseminating this information, but it is necessary to investigate the credibility of the information”, Komakhidze noted.

He recalls the “uninvestigated cases” of Zurab Zhvania’s, Raul Iusupov’s and Badri Patarkatsivhsili’s deaths and doesn’t think the assumption about honesty of the information source is exaggerated considering all these.

Komakhidze thinks this statement can have a preventive role.

Newspaper “Alia” interviewed Vakhtang Komakhidze with regard to the issue. Komakhidze speaks about credibility of the sources in the interview. He said the fact that he had spread the information proves significance of the source.
