Tsotne Gamsakhurdia Requests Alternative Medical Expertise

April 27, 2012

Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, son of the first Georgian president, requests alternative medical expertise of his health conditions.

His lawyer Keti Bekauri told Pirveli about it.

She said Gamsakhurdia’s health conditions have not improved at all; he hardly moves.

“Conclusion of the Samkharauli Forensic Expertise Bureau about Gamsakhurdia’s health conditions is not adequate and impartial. I am going to meet Tsotne and then we will request alternative medical expertise. We will try to gain impartial conclusion. Afterwards, we will petition to the relevant office of the penitentiary department and Minister Khatuna Kalmakhelidze,” Bekauri said.

She said Gamsakhurdia is very sorry that several newspapers are no longer delivered to the penitentiary institutions.

The son of the Georgian first president Zviad Gamsakhurdia is convicted for murder, illegal purchase-possession-carriage of firearms and attempted briber of governmental official.

Georgian Court sentenced him to 13 year-imprisonment as a result of aggregated punishments.

Gamasakhurdia has appealed the judgment of the Georgian Court at the Strasbourg Court. His lawyer said the ECHR had accepted their application and granted relevant number to it.
