Germany to allocate 52,000 Euros to Support Elections in Georgia

May 3, 2012

Germany will allocate 52,000 Euros to support upcoming elections in Georgia, the Embassy of Germany told InterpressNews. Germany is contributing to the Council of Europe’s program to assist Georgia’s elections for the promotion of the upcoming parliamentary (2012), presidential (2013) and local (2014) elections in Georgia.

‘The Council of Europe’s program is focused on a high turnout of voters that are taking part in elections for the first time.

“CoE program aims to reinforce youth participation in the elections. Additionally, it aims to raise awareness of young generation about democratic values. With this aid, Germany is contributing to consolidation of human rights and democracy in Georgia’, Germany’s Ambassador to the Council of Europe Julius Georg Lui together with the CoE program director Gabriela Batain-Dragon said when signing the grant agreement in Strasburg.
