Investigation Started on Hindering Professional Activities of Studio GNS Journalist

Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Prosecutor’s Office started investigation on the May 11 incident in front of the Dusheti district administration when journalist of the Studio GNS was hindered to perform his professional activities.

According to the Information Center of Mtskheta-Mtianeti, the criminal case was launched under Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Georgia that envisages punishment for the abuse of power.

Producer of the Studio GNS Nino Japaridze told ICMM that journalists were summoned for the interrogation at the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Gori on June 5.

On May 11, cameraman of the Studio GNS Zura Pataridze was not allowed to video-record the building of the Dusheti district administration. Security officer Giga Tsiklauri cursed him, threatened him with physical assault and hindered his professional activities. The incident occurred when the cameraman was video-recording the building of the district administration; he was standing 10 meters away from the building. The security officer told him he could video-record the building only from the distance of 50 meters.
